Hello all,

We have started the JIRA cloud evaluation. Using the JIRA Cloud Assistance (recommended for JIRA Server and JIRA Core migration) will move or copy (Import/Export) the data to the cloud? Unfortunately, it is not clear from multiple available resources on Atlassian web site.

Hi there,

Using the Jira Cloud Migration Assistant will copy your data from Jira Server or Jira Data Center to Jira Cloud. The data in projects on your Server/DC instance is not modified by the migration assistant.

This allows you to:

• Migrate projects one-at-a-time (we recommend applying a read-only permission scheme to the local copy of migrated projects if you do this)
• Run a test migration, either using one or two projects, or the entire instance as a dry-run without committing to a live migration
• Continue using the on-prem Jira instance if the migration to Cloud needs to be paused mid-process to a later date
