JIRA Data center upgrade from 7.6.6 to 8.5.9 open challenges

We are planning to upgrade our JDC from 7..6..6 to 8.5.9. Any challenges can be expected during upgrade process( we are on Windows OS and mssql). Any things to take care on Home ,Installation dirs and JVM options ,Heap memory ,database etc..

Please let us know if any precautions before stating the upgrade process .

I would strongly suggest performing a compatibility check and environment analysis to verify if your current application environment is fully compatible with what is required by the targeted Jira version.

• Database version
• Java version
• Plugin/apps version

Kindly ensure you understand what are the modified/customized changes in your Jira application as well to the compatible changes being carry forward to the new targeted version.

Jira v7.6.x to v.8.5.x is a major version upgrade. Even though your Jira instance is on DC, it does not support the downtime upgrade.

Lastly, always ensure there is a backup created before you proceed with the upgrade.
