Is it possible to configure JIRA so that confirmation emails sent out by JIRA for one specific request type could contain request type specific text?
Is this sort of thing possible; and, if so, could you please provide instructions on how I would go about this?

In the template, you can ask the issue for its objecttype (issue.getIssueTypeObject()).
