JIRA JSON import uses single thread?

If I am importing issues via JSON, and another person (different user on different machine) browses to the JSON import page, he sees the same import process which I have initiated.

This means that the JSON import only has a single thread.

Why is that? Can it be increased so that 2 or more users can import json simultaneously?
