JIRA Plugin Request from web server

Hi,

I have a small webserer that passes a string to SAP and then SAP return another string.

I would like a JIRA plugin that could pass a field from a task to the webserver and then the webserver passes back the value.

Any suggestions where to start this task, and some good reading material on this? I have not created plugins before and are new to this playground.
