JIRA - Reset estimated epic if stories are estimated

Dear Community / Atlassian Team

As a project manager, I start a project by estimating epics. Then I go into more and more details with stories (and more epics). 

Unfortunately, the estimated time (or storypoints) of stories add up on the already estimated epic time. That seems counterintuitiv and not best practice in project management. 

Is there a way to reset the epic estimation if a related story is estimated?

I never really placed an estimate on an Epic. Can you not simply set the estimate to 0?

Hi Jack, of course I can reset it manually, but it's an online system, so I think an automatic process would be appropriate.

I would suggest using automation. There are a number of addons that could help, e.g. Automation for Jira Lite.
