In my JIRA Timeline View I can see my sprints, releases, epics and tasks/Jira stories. TO help effective planning i would like to add Points field to my timeline view so i can manage how many points are committed per sprint.
How do i add new fields to the Timeline view alongside my JIRA ticket, status & assignee?
Hello @anitam
Welcome to the Atlassian community.
Since you are on the Premium version, there are two different Timelines you may be view; a Basic timeline and an Advanced Roadmap Plan timeline.
When viewing an agile board or backlog you may see Timeline as an option in the navigation pane on the left. That is the Basic Timeline. It is not possible to add fields to that.
With the Premium subscription it is possible to enable users to create Advanced Roadmap Plans which also have a Timeline view. The Timeline view in AR Plans does support adding more fields to the display.
Are you using the Basic Timeline or the Timeline view in an AR Plan?
You're welcome.

Hi @anitam, this is how I add more fields to Jira tickets or issues. I think you can give it a try.
First, from your project board/timeline, scroll down on the left column and you should find the Project settings tab.
Then, click Issue types.
Now you can add more fields (on the right column) to your Jira tickets, whether Epic, Task, or Subtask (depending on which type you configure for your project).
Drag the one you need to the Description fields section.
Once done, you can save changes and go back to your Project timeline to see if it is updated.
Hope this help.
