JIRA Upgrade

Fong Gary March 7, 2016

Hi!

My company currently using the JIRA 3.12. And I have received the following documentation from previous questions. And I read thru this documentation that is for JIRA 4.2 or later which is not including JIRA 3.12 upgrade. Can you please send me the documentation with JIRA 3.12 upgrade to JIRA 6.4 or later version?

https://confluence.atlassian.com/jira/migrating-jira-to-another-server-151126305.html https://confluence.atlassian.com/jira/migrating-jira-to-another-server-151126305.html

And other questions is below path is for our JIRA 3.12 attachment stored. Is the JIRA automatically back up this attachment path while upgrading the JIRA?

C:\Program Files\JIRA-Enterprise-3.12.3\attachment

Thanks and regards,
Gary Fong

Start at https://confluence.atlassian.com/jira/upgrading-jira-185729508.html

I'd recommend that your path should probably be 3.12 -> 3.13 -> 4.4 -> 5.2 -> 6.4 -> 7.1, but you will need to check that during your testing.

JIRA will not back up your attachments for you, you should keep a copy of them somewhere safe.  But it won't do anything more than a few renames and restructuring

And also it's strongly recommended to first test the upgrade on a test/staging cloned instance before  trying to upgrade the production server.
