JIRA V 7.4 - Restrict User Access to Project Role

We are currently running on JIRA V 7.4 server. We are using Active Directory Security Groups and LDAP for authentication.

An individual is a member of an Active Directory Security Group which has been granted membership to a project role with elevated access (Scrum Master).

Is it possible to revoke the membership of that user from the project role even though the individual is a member of the AD Security Group which is a member?

Yes - Project Roles are managed at project-level within Jira, as opposed to via the user management side of platform access.

As far as I know, if a user has access to Jira and to a specific project, a Project Admin can grant/revoke any project role for that user.
