JQL: Order by workflow transition date

I found a similar question here dated way back to 2013:

Is it possible to order the JQL by transition date in the later verisons of Jira?

Hello,

It is not possible out of the box. You would need to store the status changed date  in a custom field and then order your JQL by the custom field. The solution you found is still valid.

Hi Veera,

It looks like the solution proposed or one using a third party add-on is going to be the best way to go.  There's a similar Community post titled Order-By-Date when an issue is moved to a specific status that attempts to do the same thing.  Andrew provided a good workaround using the Jira Misc Custom fields plugin.
