JQL to query a field in a linked ticket?

Erik Groot October 18, 2023

Hi all,

I wonder if it is possible to use JQL to query a specific field in a linked ticket?

The case we have is we have a web hook setup to synchronise work log from Jira to a time management application.

In the web hook we use the JQL "Organization=... AND IssueType=..." for our JSM solution.

When we escalate tickets to 2nd line, a Jira Software ticket is created, where the 2nd line support logs their work. In this case the Webhook does not work because there is no Organization field in Jira Software, and the issueType is off.

All 2nd line support Jira Software tickets are linked to the JSM 1st line ticket by a custom link type.

Is it possible to include in the Webhook JQL that if the Organization of a linked ticket = X, the webchook should trigger?

Hi @Erik Groot

That is not possible with out-of-the-box JQL features.  There are marketplace addons which extend the capabilities of JQL, so perhaps investigate those.

Kind regards,
Bill
