It's a minor but annoying thing that I can't figure out. I've got a Confluence activity stream feed on my Jira landing page, but the pictures show up as red X's in the activity stream, even though I've got gravatar enabled in both applications. My gravatar picture shows up everywhere else that I expect it to, just not in the Activity Stream. What am I doing wrong?
Boris, I understand that part, what I don't understand is why it's happening. The strange thing is that for those users that are not using gravatars, their image is the standard blue background with a white sillhouette of a head and shoulders.
The native icons are showing up as https://mycorpurl/images/icons/profilepics/default.png?s=48
The gravatar icons are showing up as

So there seems to be an issue with the application trying to display a hyperlink to an attachment when it should just be showing a picture
red X should indicate that the images are not found under the URL specified in the src attribue. Can you check which is the url they point to (Right click and select "inspect element" on the image or simular depending on the browser)
