Jira Attachment name validation

Ali Aydın

Hi,

I want to check the names of the attachments added to the issues, regardless of their format, how can I do this?

For example: I have 3 files, the names of these friends are not the names I expected, otherwise the file cannot be attached.

Regards

Hi @Ali Aydın

You can validate attachments during issue creation with Jira expression-based validators. Later on, it is not possible to restrict users from adding invalid attachments. However, if you add validators on transitions, it will force users to remove invalid attachments in order to transition the issue. There are several options available on the Atlassian marketplace

I am from Forgappify, and we developed Jira Expression Validator, which is part of the Workflow Building Blocks for Jira app. We have couple of examples how to validate attachments using Jira expressions: https://docs.forgappify.com/workflow-building-blocks-for-jira/jira-administrator/jira-expressions-library#attachments

I hope it will help.

Cheers

Hi @Ali Aydın

Hope you're doing well! I just wanted to share that we've released what we call the Ultimate Validator, which takes the burden of learning Jira Expressions off your shoulders. Now, you can build complex validators easily using a simple UI.

Below is an example of how a configuration looks when validating that only attachments with specific names are allowed:

Hope you find it useful!
