We use zephyr for testing. When a bug is found, it is created from the test execution step in Zephyr.
We would like to create an automation rule so that when that bug, created from the test execution, changes to status "retest", the test execution status from where the bug was created also changes to "retest".
It appears the test executions are not linked to the Jira bugs, even though we have these settings enabled in Zephyr, with relation = "relates":
This is the automation rule we have so far:
This is the audit log, where CMSUAT-31 is the bug created from the test execution not found:
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Nikki
Hello @Nikki Hylton
Can you show us a screen image for CMSUAT-31 showing the Linked Issues section?
Can you also show us an image of the components in your automation rule (the part that displays to the left as a tree)?
I think one thing you probably need to do is replace the Lookup Issue action for a Branch / For Related Issues / Linked Issues step, and put the Edit Issue action within that branch.
Hi @Trudy Claspill !
This is CMSUAT-31, bug created from CMSUAT-26 test, but as you can see, there's no apparent link on the bug screen as we would expect based on the zephyr settings (in our configuration, the linked issues would typically appear between environment and activity):
These are the components of the rule I think you're asking for - let me know if that's not what you needed.
We did try another variation using the branch feature, but it's not giving us the results we're looking for either:
This one appears to not be finding any linked issues either:
Thank you!
Nikki

Hello @Nikki Hylton
If the link between the Test and the Bug issues are not being created then the automation will of course not work.
I have not worked with Zephyr myself, but the documentation seems to indicate that the links should be getting made.
What are the allocation for the Link Issues permission in the project(s) where the Test and Bug issues exist? Do the people creating the Bugs have the Link Issues permission? Does Project Role (atlassian-addons-project-access) have the Link Issues permission?
If the permissions are set correctly then I would recommend you contact the Zephyr app support team to ask for help determining why the links are not being created.

Thanks so much, @Trudy Claspill! The permissions are set - users creating the bugs and Project Role (atlassian-addons-project-access) have the link issues permission in this project.
We reached out to Zephyr support and they responded yesterday - "we can confirm that Jira automation rules will not work with Zephyr Testcase executions as it is not supported functionality".. So it appears we are out of options at this time.
Thanks again for your effort to help with this!
Nikki
