Jira Automation to trigger when a child ticket is linked with Epic.

Hi All,

Have requirement on Epic child issues, When a story or task or bug is linked to epic as child tickets during creation or post creation. Automation should trigger and copy epic custom field value and paste to child ticket. Can this be achievable tried multiple ways but automation is not firing. Tried with  Issue Linked event & Field Value change(selected parent link) in both these case the automation is not firing. Please help. Thank you

Are the issues in a Team Managed project or a Company Managed project? That information will show at the bottom of the panel on the left when you are viewing the project.

The Issue Linked trigger applies to the generic issue linking functionality, not the functionality associated with making an issue a child of an Epic.

Hi @Trudy Claspill  Issues are in company Managed project. Yes i understood after testing. Thanks for reply.

I was able to accomplish detecting the change in setting a child issue's parent Epic  with two separate rules; one for when a child issue is created and added to an Epic during that creation, and one where a child issue is updated and is added to an Epic (or moved from one Epic to another).

Note that the use of "Epic Link" is being deprecated and replaced by using "Parent". For more information on that topic review this article.
