Hi Guys,I don't want to see 'Clone' option for an issue. It is cloning everything and i don't want to clone few fields information while creating a new issue by referring older one.
So can we restrict cloning option through settings? I don't want to go with workflow properties level of changes as same workflow is getting used in 100 + projects and touching workflow is risky.
Hello @Mohit Sahu
No you can not, but there is a Suggestion that you could add your vote to https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRACLOUD-8497
There is also a workaround in that ticket that could help.
With automation maybe ?
So you can restrict it on certain projects / transitions / ...
Create a New Rule:
Click on the "Create rule" button to start creating a new automation rule.
Set the Trigger:
Choose an appropriate trigger that suits your needs. For example, you can select "Issue Transitioned" if you want the restriction to apply when an issue moves to a specific status.
Define the Conditions (Optional):
If you want to add conditions for the restriction, you can define them in this section. For instance, you can specify the project, issue type, or any other criteria that determine when the "Clone" option should be restricted.
Add an Action:
Click on the "+" button to add an action to the rule.
Select "Edit Issue" as the action.
Modify the Issue Fields:
In the "Edit Issue" action configuration, find the field that corresponds to the "Clone" option (e.g., "Cloners" field).
Set the value of the field to restrict or disable the "Clone" option. This could be an empty value, a specific user, or a user group that should not have the ability to clone the issue.
Save and Enable the Rule:
Give your automation rule a meaningful name.
Save the rule and make sure to enable it for it to take effect.
By creating this automation rule, you can control and restrict the "Clone" option for specific issues based on the trigger and conditions you define. This way, users who meet the specified criteria will no longer see the "Clone" option when viewing the issue.
