Jira, Confluence database best practice

I would like to get some information from Confluence database.

I'm afraid to work with production db. I can't use API to get user favorites.

Could you please give me some advice or links to tutorials on how to work with Jira and Confluence database or how to work with db backup file?

What exactly do you want to achieve with the database?
