We run a self hosted Jira Data Center, and looking to upgrade this. However according to the support policy there is no upgrade for Jira Core. V9.12. this will be the last server version.

Can we upgrade Jira Data Center without Jira Core, going forward?

Hi @Daniel Murray ,

I took a look at that support page you shared, and I suspect it's simply out of date and has not been updated with the latest version numbers.

I was able to locate the download page for the current versions of Jira Core, which is at version 10.3.2 right now.

https://www.atlassian.com/software/jira/core/download

As for upgrading without Core, this is not possible. Core is the foundation that Jira Software, JSM, etc are built on top of, so it is a required component for the tooling to function.

Hope that helps,

Robert

Hi @Daniel Murray Welcome to the Atlassian Community.

There's actually three 'versions' of Jira:

  • Cloud
  • Datacenter
  • Server

The latter has been declared end-of-life and will not receive further updates. It is not the same as the Datacenter Jira version. In addition to this, some software resellers also don't know the difference between Server and Datacenter Jira, unnecessarily pushing their clients into the cloud.

Kind regards,

Dick
