Is Jira Core now merged into Jira Software... Are they same product?

No.   Out of curiosity, what makes you ask?

Jira Software is an application that runs on top of Jira Core, adding functionality to it, but also relying on Core to provide stuff like users, projects, issues, fields, screens and so-on.
