Jira Core upgrade from 7.10.2 to 8.2.2 "No directory found"

Hi,

On my stage (test) environment I'm trying to upgrade Jira Core from 7.10.2 to 8.2.2.

Installer prompts me the message:

Please choose one of the following:
Express Install (use default settings) [1], Custom Install (recommended for advanced users) [2, Enter], Upgrade an existing JIRA installation [3]

When I choose 3 the following message appears:

3
Existing installation directory:
[/opt/JIRA Core]

No directory found in specified location
Finishing installation ...

I know that is because my installation directory for Jira is:

/opt/atlassian/jira/

This is default installation directory for my current Jira version. I have never changed anything.

Documentation (https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver/upgrading-jira-server-installer-938846937.html) says:

  1. When prompted, choose Upgrade an existing Jira installation.
  2. Make sure the Existing Jira installation directory suggested by the wizard is correct (especially important if you have multiple Jira installations on the same machine.)

So, it is not correct but I don't know how to change it...

I can choose option 2 when installer starts but as far as I know it will override my home and installation directory and I will need to restore data from backup. Is there an easier way?

Regards

An upgrade expects to be pointed an an existing installation, via the path to the installation and home directory. If you don't point to an existing installation and home, it can't upgrade, since you are then performing a new installation.

In your example, you would need to enter "/opt/atlassian/jira/" in to the #3 option.

LOL, thanks Dave :) I didn't realize that after hitting #3 I can enter path manually...  I definitely need a vacation :)
