Hi,

May we ask why our Jira gets down when we are doing a Background re-indexing? Thank you.

Are you sure it's a background re-index, and what does "down" mean? If it's "down" then then no reindexing is happening since Jira died. If you get a locked message due to it re-indexing, you did a foreground aka "stop the world" re-index, not a background one.

Hi All,

I am sure that it is a Background re-indexing because one of my workmates change something in a workflow so I need to do a background re-index. While re-indexing, Jira suddenly stop on our server and when I try to start it, it encountered a plugin error. I deleted the osgi and bundled plugins folder in Jira Home but still Jira cant start. The only thing that gets it to start is deleting the Indexes V1 folder and doing a full re-index after.

I guess you mean full reindex?

Documentation is here: https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver/search-indexing-938847710.html

Basically what happens at a full reindex is that the index (all references between issues) are deleted. If you were to do actions in the system when this happens then there is a risk of corruption.
