Jira Epic estimates & linked issues estimates

Hi

Our PO/SM need to be able to track the Progress at the EPIC and Release level. We work on a Quarterly release schedule.

For the EPIC burn down chart, I want to track the EPIC Velocity against the issues linked to the EPIC's to monitor the progress of the work against delay etc..

I understand that the number of issues might increase over time linked to an EPIC. In case of any increase of the issues linked to the EPIC, we would be updating EPIC story points reflecting new issues added to it.

For example:

EPIC: Enhancing the User Login experience - 19 points

Issues linked to above EPIC:

Issue 1: User should be able to login - 3 point

Issue 2: User should be able to search - 2 point

Issue 3: User should be able to search with wild cards - 1 point

Issue 4: ......         - 5 point

Issue 5: ......         - 8 point

Somehow the EPIC burn down chart does not show the correct progress. Do I need to do anything else to make it work,

I have a similar question for the Release Burn down chart .
