As the title says, I am trying to copy or duplicate a task including subtasks in Jira Plans. On the one hand the newly created tasks should be able to be renamed, but on the other hand the structure of the copied task should remain the same. Unfortunately, I can't find a way to copy, clone ore duplicate tasks including subtasks and keep their dependencies at the same time. i would appreciate any help.
Hello @Hannes Zotter
If you're willing to use a third-party application, I can suggest trying our app Elements Copy & Sync that allows you to copy issues with all their content (summary, description, custom fields, comments, attachments, etc.) and their child issues.
You’ll be able to clone a task with all its subtasks at once.
Don't hesitate to try our app, it's free during 30 days and stays free under 10 users.
Kind regards,
Clara
Hi @Hannes Zotter and welcome to the community!
Duplicating tasks along with their subtasks and maintaining the defined structure and dependencies in Jira can indeed be a bit challenging with the out-of-the-box functionalities.
For a more streamlined approach, you can use apps from the Atlassian Marketplace designed to enhance Jira's cloning capabilities. One such app is our Deep Clone for Jira, which allows you to clone issues with their subtasks and maintain the structure and dependencies.
You can use our Field Editor feature to also rename the issues you are cloning, as well as change other field values.
