We need to change our Project Name and related Project Key.  We are leveraging TestRail (TestRail & Jira integration) and I want to know what, if any, impacts changing the Project Key will have on this integration.

Thanks,

Devin

I would recommend testing this in a development environment first. That way you have the opportunity to test extensively and make changes if things don't work the way you intended.

When you change the Project Key, Jira maintains a pointer to the old Key. This is why you can't reuse a Key that has changed.  The pointer makes URLs that exist in bookmarks, Word docs, etc still work after you change the Key.  Essentially, Jira does a redirect to the updated issue with the new Key.  Test Rail may just follow the pointer and not require any change at all. You may need to repoint Test Rail to the updated Project, though.  Testing will verify which case it is.
