Jira Software Slow and Unresponsive

Installed Jira yesterday, and noticed that the pages were very slow to load at times. This morning, my System Dashboard won't load at all, the header will load but I get a white page and the menu options show up in the header of the page but won't dropdown to allow navigation to anything.

Yesterday, it was very random. Sometimes pages would load very quickly, others the browser would sit at "Waiting for Jira" for 30 seconds or more before anything would load. This morning, nothing. Until I restarted the service...now I can access things again (and for the moment are snappy).

I realize this is a pretty...vague...issue, but it's the information I have. Some technical details of the server:

Version: Jira Software Server v7.9

Database: SQL Server 2014 (newly installed server, Jira and Bitbucket are the only things using this DB server)

Hardware: VMware Machine running on ESXi version 6.5 with 8 CPUs and 6GB of Ram (this host is located in the same building and subnet that the machine accessing Jira is located, and has plenty of resources left so the host itself is not being taxed). VMware is not reporting that the VM is having CPU/Memory issues.

OS: Windows 2012r2

Antivirus: Panda Adaptive Defense 360 (I have disabled this temporarily, with no change in performance)

The server is linked to a Bitbucket server (Bitbucket doesn't seem to have an issue), and is also using Active Directory for users (though logging in with a local Jira admin user results in the same slowness)

Worth noting is that we are a small shop, and that I am currently the only one trying to access the Jira server. I created a couple of projects yesterday as test projects, but that is it.

I can sift thru logs or post them if needed, just not sure what to look for or post.

Hello,

it would indeed be useful to check the logs when you're using Jira and noticing it's slow.

How do you access Jira: do you have a DNS set up or using the IP:Port directly ?

The VM sizing seems good to me so your performance issues must come from something else, network issue for example.

Cheers,
