Jira Structure/ Gantt warning: different work calendar...

Tim Lange March 31, 2020

Hi all,

I started to use the structure plugin with gantt and keep on seeing a warning in the Gantt diagram.

What does this mean and how do I resolve this?

Warning: This task is scheduled in a different work calendar. It may have a different duration in the displayed work calendar. It may also "jump" to a different position after you manually schedule it with drag-and-drop.

Thanks,

Tim

Hello Tim,

The warning message can appear if a task was scheduled in one calendar and then a used calendar - either the global chart calendar or the task's resource's calendar - was changed to a different one. The calendar indicates working hours in a day, working days in a week and it can also contain working exceptions such as holidays and days with partial work.

For example, if you're using the 24/7 calendar which means that resources can work on any task constantly without any weekends or breaks during the day. With this calendar, you can schedule a task on Saturday and it will be placed on a chart accordingly. And then if you change the calendar to a standard one with 8 hours of work per day and 5 working days a week, the warning message will appear - the task will still be scheduled on Saturday because it was possible when the previous calendar was used, but now there will be a contradiction with the selected calendar's available working hours.

This message not necessarily means a problem, it indicates that a task was scheduled when a different calendar was used and this can potentially lead to unwanted scheduling results. The message disappears when used calendars - the global one for the chart, the general Resources' calendar and individual Resources' calendars - are the same.

I hope this helps! If you need further assistance, please feel free to contact us via support.almworks.com and we'll be glad to take a deeper look at your use-case.
