Jira automation, more options, additional fields purpose

Hello,

Could I please understand what is the purpose of more options and additional fields in jira automation. How it functions exactly? for example in the photo, is it a custom field only specific to this automatically created issue?

Hi @Circles House and welcome to the Community!

The section - as displayed in your screenshot - is not doing anything yet. You only see placeholder text meant to illustrate how you should format your input if you want to use the feature.

In a real life scenario, you can update fields on an issue when you are creating or editing it. You can do so by selecting fields from the list of available fields and then specify what values you want to insert there:

• literally set the value you want in the field
• use smart values to add dynamic content
• copy values from other issues or other fields

But not all custom fields in Jira are supported to be edited (yet). And for cases like that, you can use the additional fields section you mention. It can be used for advanced editing using json.
