Jira custom developed plugin key changed

We are currently in the process of refactoring our custom developed plugin. And we want to remove two of our plugins where a couple of custom fields were defined. We are just migrating this code to another plugin, so essentially the implementation of these custom fields is the exact same but the plugin key has changed. How do we go about making the existing custom fields defined with this type to refer to the new plugin key.
