Jira data center using private subnets

Sysaccount July 27, 2018

Hello Everyone,

We are planning to move to Jira data center on aws(Quick start guide) from Jira cloud.

When we reviewed the Quick start guide of Jira data center, the architecture says that it needs public subnets to allow outbound internet access for resources in the private subnets. We are a organization who use only private subnets for security purposes.

Is it possible to deploy this data center only using private subnets? if yes, how do we make this change?

Thanks in Advance!

Hi @Sysaccount,

The Jira instances will be in a private subnet and the load balancer in a public subnet. Load balancer forwarding traffic to the Jira instances.

Can we use our own existing public and private subnets while using Quick start template? Or is it necessary to have an existing ASI environment?

Hi @Kunal_Keshari ,

Yes, it's possible. You can either hard code the subnets in the template or select from a list of available subnets when deploying. Not sure whether it's configured this way by default, so you may have to make some updates. Let me know of any issues and I can look over our deployment scripts.
