I just migrated the jira database from sql server to postgres database. I followed the procedure by exporting the database, removing the dbconfig.xml. After restarting jira, I went to the setup page and configured the database connection. It was all successful. However, the jira pages doesn't look right. Some pieces are missing on the pages. I suspect that JIRA didn't connect to the database. I don't know what could be the problem.
I was trying to do the same and have similar kinds of issues. The Jira with the Postgres DB doesn't look right as it did with the SQL Server before the data migration. There are still bits and pieces missing in between. If Atlassian could migrate the data from the Jira DC or Server to the Jira cloud then they could help in migrating the data from one database to another at least SQL Server to Postgres without having major data loss.
I'm currently trying out the XML backup and import method but as our data size is more than 60GB it is really taking a very long time to finish the process.
