Jira initial install, second attempt, permission denied

This is my first time installing JIRA in a decade.  I installed it and started my configuration and it went well until the security configuration went south and I couldn't access the web site.  So, I decide to start over.  I deleted /var/atlassian/*/jira and /opt/atlassian/jira, I did deluser jira.  Great!

But when I tried to rerun the installer via sudo, I get "permission denied".  The file is set to execute.  I literally ran the install 3 hours before.  Did I leave some trash behind?  Other ideas?

Hi Mark,

I don't think you left anything behind as it looks like you deleted both the home and working directories, but just a double check, look at THIS ARTICLE for the full path break downs.

Overall It sounds more like a filesystem permissions error is occuring, possibly on the deletion / recreation of the jira user, But check out the following KB for some details on a permission denied errors running the setup wizard:

Regards,
Earl
