Hi All,
We are planning a cleanup activity in our Jira data center instance.
As part of which, unused/inactive custom fields need to be cleaned. But, the fields that are created by any installed plugin must not be deleted.
Is there any way to get the list of custom fields which are created by plugin?
Thanks
Ashima Bhatia
When plugin are creating custom fields it deppends if/how the plugin marks that field as created by the plugin. Could be a comment in the field description. The plugin documentation should state that the plugin is creating custom fields and which they are.
So the process will require you to analyse the custom fields and depict which ones are created by the plugins and how are they being used. This could proove time consumming.
If you are open to using apps you can use Fields Dashboard for Jira, an app released by our company.
https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1235965/fields-dashboard-for-jira?hosting=cloud&tab=overview
You can easily find out what field are used in screens and workflows and which projects are using them.
For example, see in the attached img a field that is used in a transition screen.
You can easy depict which workflow, workflow scheme and project is using the field.
Otherwise this kind of investigation requires an extensive field by field research.
You can export your findings in csv format.

Petru
Hi @Ashima Bhatia
You can try our app that is specialised in instance assessment and cleanup.
It will help you as well with identifying customfields usage and also take into consideration of type of custom fields especially the one coming from addons.

There is "App Usage for Jira" plugin available in Atlassian Marketplace which is develop by the Atlassian, can help you to analyse the plugin data where you can get the custom field details as well.

You can try to install it and go over it.
Also you have Jira's database access then you can find through it.
Please, refer this article: https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirakb/how-to-find-which-custom-field-is-provided-by-which-app-or-plugin-in-jira-1131087354.html
