Jira throws TypeError: f is undefined

Christian Gieseler November 12, 2021

After an upgrade to v8.20.1 wie are seeing the following error on agile screens.

The error message differs in Firefox and Chrome. In Chrome i am not able to reproduce right now. Edge does not show the effect. Any hint how to debug and solve this is welcome.

In Firefox it throws:

Exception: TypeError: f is undefined

I now got the time to trace down the issue a bit further. The issue only pops up if i open an issue in a kanban board. Once the preview is shown the error message is thrown. Issue is not limited to a certain browser.

Problem is solved now. It turned out that an app with an expired trial was still active. I was able to trace this via $JIRAHOME/log/atlassian-jira.log. Although it did not show the name of the app that was causing the issue there was a rest api link that set me on the correct tail. Disabling the app solved the issue. It is strange the that issue only poped up after an update from jira- 8.18.1 to 8.20.1 as the trail of the app did end more than one and a half year ago.
