Hello I created a filter to show Automation for Jira Epics however its showing Undefined in Kanban board for the Issues. Please advise as to what this means and is there another filter I can use to display Automation for Jira tickets. Thanks
Filter: Jira Specialist Playground" AND "Epic Status" in ("To Do")
Hello @lapacquah.bryant
Boards display issues. There is not a built in issue type called "Automation for Jira Epics". Can you clarify what you mean by "Automation for Jira Epics"?
The "undefined" label you see on the cards means that there is some field being displayed for those cards that is not defined for the type of issue those cards are showing.
Can you show us the information from your Board Settings > Card Layout screen?
Can you show us the Filter Query from your Board Settings > General screen?
Automation for Jira (Epic) is an Epic that was generated by an Automation rule. When user creates a ticket I added an Automation rule that is triggered and creates an Epic.
Filter: project = "Jira Specialist Playground" AND "Epic Status" in ("To Do")

Did your Automation Rule fill in the Epic Name field when creating the Epics? If it did not, then that would be the reason "undefined" shows in the cards where the Epic Name should show.

I am guessing the Epic Name field is not populating I only see the Key information for the Epic created. I read that generally Epic Name populates only on Epic Issue types. If true do I need to create a new Issue type I did use Epic as the Issue type in my Automation rule.

Also should I add another condition to Automation rule to display Epic name?

Are you creating these issues in a Company Managed project or a Team Managed project? In a Software, Service, or Business/Work Management project?
The Epic Name field does only apply to Epic types of issues, and only when those issues are in a Company Managed project. The Epic Name field is in the process of being deprecated. (See this article.)
Please show use the details of the Automation Rule you are using to create the Epic, including the fields that you are setting for the Epic.

Where can I go to sign up for these type of updates for Jira. I was able to update the Epic Name, which is now updating the Kanban board with Epic.
Thanks again for your help.
