Kanban board organize cards

AT October 19, 2023

My team uses Kanban board (company managed project). I want that all tickets which are in Testing column are organized by epic name. Currently, we have 8 issues which are part on 1 epic but they are scattered in the column. I would like them all to appear one after another.

Hi @AT

Trust you are well.

As @Mohanraj Thangamuthu outlined "Swimlanes by Epics" is one of the solution ... so you gonna help your issues grouped. One limitation here is you want be able to manage Epic through the flow along side your issues. If you want to see your Epic (Parent) alongside your Issues (Children) on the same board and manage side by side there are couple of options:

  • just turn on "Swimlanes by Epics" in config when you need it and turn off when not.
  • you might consider changing JQL for your kanban board and add "ORDER BY PARENT". This should accommodate your 8 issues together within same column.
  • consider Partner Apps that provides some level of flexibility you need. For e.g our Advanced Kanban & Agile Boards allows to select any standard or custom field for ordering. We also allow to add "Parent header" to all the cards so you visually bind issues to Epics. Plus we allow to group issues to parent and follow the parent (practically be in the same column ordered under parent) disregard the status they are.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Yuri.

Hello, Good day. Go to board settings >> Swimlanes and select "Epic. Check if this helps your requirement.
