Is there a way to have a Kanban board that still have a view of Backlog like when you setup a Scrum board?

@Katrina Lazaro you can enable Backlog for Kanban, Jira does not create Backlog by default when we create a Kanban board however it pops up a small screen the moment you create a new kanban board.

To answer to your question, yes you can enable Backlog for kanban board. Board Administrator or Project Lead can enable from Board configuration.

Navigate to Kanban Board, Click "Board" top right and then click Configure. then Go to "Column".

You will find status "Open, "Reopened", "On Hold" in unmapped status column by default. Just drag these statuses into Kanban Backlog then click "Back to Board" you can see the magic.

Thanks

Hi Katrina - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

If it is a Company-managed project, then yes you can. Go to the board, the click the 3 dots menu in the upper right and select Configure Board.

Then go to the Columns tab. There you can drag your opening status (probably is called Backlog or To Do or something like that) to the Kanban backlog section (the second section from the left beside Unmapped statues.

Hi @Katrina Lazaro

Welcome to the community!

The answer is YES and it is a very handy feature!

On a Kanban board, press three dots > Configure board  > Columns

Here you should have a backlog column available.  If you map your first status in the workflow to that column a Backlog view appears.  It is also very important that the next status in your workflow is mapped to the second column, otherwise the user cannot drag n drop the issue from the backlog to the next status (instead of a sprint)

ps. I don't know if you are on  DC or Cloud. If on DC the version you are on can also play a role in what  features are available for you.

all the best

Lisa
