LDAP - "Filter out expired users" - no difference if checked or unchecked

Hi all,

i think in this case the title is pretty self-explanatory. I had my LDAP-"guy" do serveral checks on removing and adding 2 users to our LDAP-group which is synced with Jira.

So my problem is, that I dont see any differences here. If i uncheck "filter out..." the user will be marked as inactive and the full/clear name will remain. Actually that outcome is pretty fine but i don´t get the difference to having said field checked, since it behaves the same (inactive + clearname).

could someone explain to me how these options differ? And if they should; how and why they don´t for me/us.
