Our log is full of lines with:

How is this scheduled? Is this done manually or automatically? How can you validate if the job was done correctly?

Every change to an issue causes it to be re-indexed.  There's also the option for a human to kick off project, background or locking index runs.

This task specifically will not be scheduled, but it could be caused by any of the four actions above.
