Linked issues does not work as expected

sujata birajdar May 12, 2021

we have linked issues created under our epic/tasks with functionalities of "Block" , "Blocked by" , "child of" , "has to be done after" , but all these linked issues statuses can be changed or even we can close this irresepective of the linked dependency on the parent task.
I tried to look for the validators of linked issues in our workflow but there is no validator for linked issue.

Could you please guide me on this.

An issue link is simply a way to show that two issues are linked in some way (with, of course, a direction if you need it).

They are entirely configurable to suit how you want to use them, but they are just information.  There is nothing special about any of the link types that makes Jira do things with them other than display that there is a relationship of some sort.

If you want to base process on links, then you can, but in most cases you'll need to find or write code that can implement whatever you're trying to do with them.

I'm not sure why you might have been expecting anything different - Jira can't begin to guess how you might want to use an issue link.
