I have a business project where a lot of the tasks are less than a day, 4 hours, 2 hours, etc. When I linked these tasks together finish to start it will not allow me to set the same day for all of the tasks. Instead it assigns a full day to each stretching the project timeline further than it should be.
Is it possible to change this behaviour so I can have two tasks linked that start and end on the same day?
Thanks
Alan
Hi Alan,
I'm not sure I understand the problem here. I can link issues together in a Jira Cloud business project, but I don't yet understand how that correlates to a duration of time to complete between these tasks.
Are you running a specific report In Jira to observe this problem? Or if you can tell me more about where you see this problem, perhaps I can help. Screenshot might help.

Hi Andrew
Thanks for your response. To clarify. I have two tasks which are linked with task 1 to be completed before task 2 but both tasks can be completed in a single day. Task 1 has a start and end date of 1st June. When I try and do the same for task two, it changes the end date to the 2nd June. When I have a number of tasks like this in a project is stretches the total duration of the project.
If I don't link the tasks then I can assign the correct start and end dates to the tasks but obviously I lose the clarity of what should be done first.
We use Big Picture for our project management tools and I'm not sure if this is a JIra or Big Picture issue.
Thanks

Ah, thanks for letting me know. I think this is specific to that plugin for Jira, and not Jira itself. I have added the tags for that plugin to this thread. I also came across this other post that seems directly related to the situation you mentioned:
I hope this helps.

That post describes my needs exactly. It looks like this is an enhancement for the future and I'll need to work around it for now. Thanks for your assistance
