Load time for "Epic link"

Hi all,

In our JIRA we have a lot of epics, as a result load time for the Epic link drop-down list is around 15sec.

Is there any possibility to change the way this filed works - e.g. to exclude pre-loading and to enable searching only when at least 3 characters are added to the field?
