Good Afternoon,
We have set up our new domain and we are looking to potentially migrate our entire Atlassian stack to the new domain or at least our users.
Is this something that can be done? Can we change the domain associated with our Atlassian accounts?
For example, we have XYZ.atlassian.com. can we change that to ZXY.atlassian.com?
If not, is it possible to create a new Atlassian instance and migrate the users and licenses across?
Thank you,
David
Hey @David Kernaghan it sounds like you've already changed your domain (or created a new one) if not then as a paid user you should be able to do this (once!)
There's more info in this thread:
https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-questions/How-do-I-change-domain-ID/qaq-p/1756184
If you do have the instance already, then there's a few different plugins in the Atlassian Marketplace you can use to migrate from one Jira instance to another, including:
- Revyz
- Exalate
You could also create a backup from your old instance and import it into your new instance, but that gives you a little less flexibility (and possibly comprehensiveness) compared to specialized migration plugins.
Thanks
Mike
Thanks for that Mike. A follow up if I may, we use SSO with Microsoft Azure for our users to sign in, would we be able to simply swap that to the new domain? I imagine we disconnect the SSO connector on the old domain and then set it up again on the new domain?
What would happen to the users? Would they sign in with their old accounts or new accounts, or would we have to amend the old accounts to the new domain email addresses before moving anything?
That was more than one question, sorry!
DK
