Mail Configuration error

Hello Friends..

I am using Jira 7.3.6 version, and i am new to jira. I am trying to do mail configuration for my jira with my gmail account for outgoing mail configuration.

Here i am getting an error (please refer below snap) and kindly help me for resolving

Hi Raju,

This kind of error is rather generic.  All we can say is that Jira appears to be unable to establish this outbound stmp connection to the gmail host.  But I'm not sure exactly why that is just yet.

I would recommend trying to follow the steps in the KB Unable to Send Mail due to Could not connect to SMTP Host.  It has some steps to first look up the complete error message in the logs which you can find in the $JIRAHOME/log/atlassian-jira.log file at the time this error appears in the web browser.

It also has some resolution or troubleshooting steps to try from the machine running Jira to test out if that machine is able to connect to the host in question, in this case I believe that will be smtp.gmail.com but the log messages should give you a clear address which Jira is trying to use and failing to connect to.
