I'm a new Jira user and while I read the documentation on setting up screens, schemes and setting up tabs, I'm still a little confused. I set up a Project Hardware Screen which I associated with all issue operations (create, view, edit) of an issue type and made into a default screen. In the screen I organized my fields into different tabs. I also associated the issue type to a project
If I create the issue issue type outside the actual project screens (say, while I'm in settings) all the tabs and fields show up the way I want them to.
If I create the issue while I'm in the project, the tabs are gone and the fields appear in one long vertical row. When I am editing or viewing the issue there are also no tabs and the fields are out of order. According to my reading, tabs only appear in view mode if they are customized, are of a type such as text and have a value in them. However even when my fields meet this criteria the tabs don't appear.
Is there another way to get the tabs to appear or at least have my fields in the right order when I am creating or viewing an issue?
Actually I think I got it. I was in the new Jira view mode and from what I read, you can't configure the fields yet. When I turned this new view off, suddenly my columns were there. If anyone knows differently, please let me know!
