Hello, i have a few scrum boards that the location is not a project but a user, how can i allow others to manage sprints on those board?
thanks,

Hello @Wade H
Are other users able to access these boards? If they are not able to access the boards, have the filters on which the boards were built been shared with those users?
Do the users have the Manage Sprints permissions in all the projects referenced by such boards?
Hi @Trudy these boards are ran by a filter that uses a drop down list from 10 different projects, I created the boards for teams to work on that have multiple projects work work in. The filters have been shared with any logged in user and all can get to the boards. Right now there are no issues in these boards and the Agile Leads would like to start creating sprints for the next quarter when we wills tart using these new broads. However since they are not associated to any projects but the location is a user no one can manage sprints except for Jira Admins. all Agile Leads of the manage sprint permission in all projects.

Do the board filters explicitly identify the projects in scope of the board?
Do you have Jira Service Management projects in the same environment?
Can the location of the boards be changed from a user to one of the projects associated with each board?
Are the Agile Leads listed as Administrators for the boards?

Hi @Trudy the filters do not explicitly call out any projects no. there are JSM projects in the environment. we really do not want to location of the boards to be in a project, we are going to a product centric project architecture and have teams that work in several projects. that agile leads are listed as board admins.

@Trudy Claspill you gave me an idea, i simply added the projects to the filters and that took care of my issue.
thanks!!

Yes, that makes sense.
With board filters, the users have to have the Manage Sprints permission in every project that is within scope of the filter. If you don't explicitly call out the projects in the filter, then Jira considers every project in the entire Jira instance to be within scope; Software, Work Management, and Service Management projects.
Using filter criteria that results in a selection of issues from a small set of projects without explicitly naming those projects is not sufficient. For instance if the filter is set to select issues based on Component = X and only 5 projects actually have a Component named X, Jira does not interpret that to mean only those 5 projects are in scope. Instead it has to look at every single project to see if there is a Component named X. That brings all projects into the scope of the board.
So, you always need to be explicit in declaring the projects that are within the scope of your board filter.

Hi @Wade H
To run Scrum, you need a Scrum Board in a project and thats the problem.
A Sprint will be created in a specfic projects.
Even if you have a lot of projects demonstrated in a scrum board, that is allocated to a "personal" space.
So - what you want, Jira by default wouldnt achieve.

Hi @Patricia Francezi I was able to achieve what i wanted by adding the projects to the filter for each board, so i still have scrum boards that are not located in a project, but they are able to bring in any work assigned to the team based on a drop down list and each team has their own sprints and their own sprint metrics.
