Manage duplicates in Jira

HI,

I am working in Jira v8.20.3 and doesn't fully understand how duplicates arise and how to manage them the best way. Can you please advise - thanks.

Corrrect, however, I am not technical so I don't know how to manage JQL queries. I am just a regular user using the Jira application.
