Manually update status

Hi All,

Wanted to create a "Admin Transition" screen which will have a list box with all the available status in JIRA. The Admin can manually select any status and update it.

Please let me know a simpler way to achieve this.

First, modify your workflows so that all status have transitions out to all the other status, (optionally) protected by "Conditions" that say "only administrators".

Second, write an add-on that can provide a screen and then trigger the appropriate transition.

Can I not have a drop down of all status and after its selection, status is updated?

No, because status is not a field.  It's an indicator of where you are in the workflow.

There is a drop-down version of it in one of the new issue views coming soon, but that drop-down still obeys all the workflow rules, and when you "change" the status using it, it goes through transitions to make all the changes.
