Migrate JIRA from old server to new server but different DB

Can anyone help me with this scenario
I have JIRA connected to SQL server and for testing, I want to migrate it to different machine and connect it to PostgreSQL database
I think that installing new JIRA instance and connecting it to PostgreSQL and restoring XML backup file will do the trick but maybe I'm wrong
