Migrate JIRA to Kubernetes

aligntechsupport December 6, 2024

Hello Atlassian Community,

We are looking to migrate our JIRA instance to an AWS EKS cluster and start running it in Kubernetes (K8s). It is already running in containers for us today.

In this post, I would like to kindly ask you to share your experiences with running JIRA in K8s.

The questions we are particularly interested in are:

  1. Did Kubernetes cause any additional issues that would not have occurred in a standard deployment?
  2. Is Atlassian support as good for Kubernetes environments?
  3. Did you encounter any documentation gaps, issues, or inaccuracies related to Kubernetes environments?
  4. How about the EazyBI plugin experience?

Thanks.

Hi @aligntechsupport ,

While I don't have experience with Jira DC running on k8s, adding a few reading resources for your reference:

When it comes to support, Atlassian Support will surely be helpful for "Debugging" issues, but what I would highly recommend if to onboard a Atlassian Service Partner, who is an expert in such transitions, the additional cost would be worthwhile if you get the required services and benefits, without the hassle of getting stuck on unwanted issues.
