Migration of users from jira server to cloud

Hi everyone,

We are migrating projects from jira server to cloud using jira cloud migration Assistant.

We are doing it in stages for example at a time 20 projects along with projects we are migrating users also who are in selected project's.

After migration users are created with the same email ids as in source instance then we have updated their email ids according to target instance and they are working with their new email ids.

In the second stage again we are migrating 20 more projects with users who are in selected projects.

Some users have access to different projects now the user who has been already migrated in the first stage is present in the 2nd stage of migration also and been migrated again to target instance.

Here the duplication occurs and license issue also. Can anyone please suggest me how we can overcome this.

I would create a MOVE ticket (migration support to Atlassian, and explain the situation. Perhaps they can extend your plan to get more users till the migration finishes. If you have also filled the migration runbook, that would help a lot Atlassian.

If you can't create a move ticket, consider the possibility of changing the users' email addresses from server and prior of migration.
